30+Years Experience
UK & AUStandards Compliant

About Us

JBMEC Electrical & Control is led by Jonathan Burke — a BEng-qualified electrical engineer with over 30 years of hands-on experience across the design, manufacture, verification and commissioning of motor control centres, switchboards and control systems.

Registered in Australia and operating across both the UK and Australian markets, we provide specialist electrical engineering consultancy from initial concept through to production, commissioning and ongoing support. Our work is grounded in deep technical knowledge of BS EN 61439, AS/NZS 61439 and the wider IEC standards framework.

JBMEC Electrical & Control is a registered business name of Aussiestake Pty Ltd (ABN 30 680 504 849), the Australian company through which we contract and operate.

Our Story

Where We Started

Jonathan Burke began his career in the UK, earning a BEng in Electrical Engineering from Aston University and spending three decades designing, manufacturing and certifying motor control centres, switchboards and control panels — from small LCPs rated below 10kA through to large MCCs rated at 80kA fault level and 6300A load AC.

Why Australia

With BS EN 61439 and AS/NZS 61439 both derived from the same IEC 61439 base, the transition to the Australian market was a natural step. JBMEC was established to bring UK-depth MCC and switchboard design expertise to the Australian industrial sector — backed by the same rigorous verification, documentation and Declaration of Conformity processes.

Where We Are Now

Today, JBMEC Electrical & Control operates across both markets — providing end-to-end electrical engineering consultancy, control systems design, protection and arc flash studies, PLC automation, safety systems, hazardous area design and project management.

Our Strategy

Technical Excellence

We deliver designs that are correct, compliant and buildable — verified against all 13 mandatory characteristics of BS EN 61439 / AS/NZS 61439. No shortcuts, no ambiguity.

Dual-Market Capability

Operating across the UK and Australia, we bring the full depth of both regulatory frameworks to every project — enabling clients to standardise designs and compliance approaches across international operations.

Client Partnership

We embed within client teams rather than working at arm's length. Our approach is built on transparency, shared accountability and a single-minded focus on getting the project delivered right first time.

Purpose & Values

We exist to deliver safe, compliant and well-engineered electrical solutions — and to make working with us straightforward, collaborative and technically rewarding.

🎯

Integrity

Honest assessment, accurate documentation, and designs that do exactly what we say they will.

🤝

Collaboration

We work as one team with our clients — sharing knowledge, aligning priorities and solving problems together.

🛡️

Safety

Every design decision starts with the safety of the people who will build, operate and maintain the equipment.

📐

Precision

Detail matters. From clearances and creepage to protection grading and cable sizing — we get the details right.

Leadership

Jonathan Burke

Principal Engineer & Director

BEng Electrical Engineering, Aston University. 30+ years of experience across the complete project lifecycle — from initial design, component selection and compliance verification through to manufacturing support, factory acceptance testing and commissioning.

Specialist in MCC and switchboard design from Form 2 through Form 4, rated up to 80kA fault level and 6300A busbar current. Experienced across all three verification methods defined in BS EN 61439 / AS/NZS 61439: testing, comparison and assessment.

Working Together

We don't just deliver drawings and walk away. We embed within your project team, working as one — sharing your objectives, understanding your constraints and taking shared accountability for the outcome.

01

Shape

We work alongside you from the earliest stages — reviewing specifications, challenging assumptions and developing the right technical strategy before a single line is drawn. Our goal is to ensure the design intent is clear, the compliance route is defined and the project is set up to succeed.

02

Create

Our engineering team produces the full design package — GAs, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, protection studies, arc flash analysis and compliance documentation. We work collaboratively with your engineers, panel builders and procurement teams to keep the design aligned with programme, budget and buildability.

03

Deliver

We support you through manufacturing, factory acceptance testing and site commissioning — providing the technical continuity that ensures what was designed is what gets built. We remain accountable for the quality of our work from first issue through to final handover.

04

Sustain

Our relationship doesn't end at handover. We provide ongoing technical support, legacy system assessment, retrofit planning and standard design development — helping you build a library of verified, repeatable solutions that reduce engineering cost on future projects.

Our commitment: We bring the same rigour, transparency and collaborative mindset to a single LCP design as we do to a multi-board MCC project. Your project is our project.
